Trauma

I am a Trauma Specialist. I work with children, teenagers, and adults that have experienced a variety of traumas. I utilize EMDR and Trauma Focused CBT to help individuals recover from the traumatic experiences that they have faced. I make use of a calm place prior to doing the trauma work to use between sessions when the individual is anxious and annoyed. It is also used during a session when the work becomes too intense. The individual can stop, go to their calm place, and take a break. Finally, it is used prior to doing a container exersise. In the calm place the individual envisions a container where they put all the thoughts, feelings, images, and body sensations. They then close and lock the container, so that they can go from the session feeling calm and relaxed.

My Approach & Values

You can be assured that the Treatment Modalities that I use are grounded in best practices so that you will see positive changes in your life. In Individual Therapy I make use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help people with their anxiety and depression. The workbook Mind Over Mood has been well received by my clients.

I utilize two Treatment Modalities in Trauma Treatment. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT) to help individuals to process their trauma. EMDR helps you to process disturbing events and clear the trauma you have experienced in your life. TFCBT helps you to challenge negative thoughts and create a trauma narrative.
